The 19th Century Victorian period Bridge cottage

Visit and stay in this cosy Victorian cottage, based in the heart of the Somerset countryside, in the small rural village of Marston Magna.  A few miles from the beautiful Market Town of Sherborne and bustling town of Yeovil.

The cottage sleeps 4 in two bedrooms – one master bedroom with kingsize bed and one twin bedroom.

Our self catering cottage has been designed to give you comfort.  It’s the perfect base to unwind and relax with tastefully furnished rooms, comfy beds, a private south facing courtyard garden, and views across a conservation area. Beautiful!

Bridge Cottage is in a good location for many attractions and National Trust properties. For your family time the Haynes International Motor Museum is on the doorsteps,  Longleat has re-opened the Safari Park and is a short drive away, great shopping in the bustling town of Sherborne and of course, the great outdoors – golf, fishing, horse riding, cycling, walking.  Whether it’s adventure, relaxing or eating out, there is a variety of places to see near us on rainy or sunny days! Children Welcome!

Children are welcome from the age of 3.

The cottage is child friendly with our enclosed private garden, patio and shrubs.  A separate summer house come games room with Snooker Table and Football Table.  Enjoy family time with games, books in the relaxed surroundings of the Victorian period cottage.

We went to Montacute House, Tintinhall Gardens and Lytes Cary Manor, all National Trust properties which were nice. Sherborne was nice, especially the Abbey. The cottage setting is beautiful and peaceful. The lovely garden has a great suntrap for the afternoons. There is a nice “few minutes” walk to the village pub which was friendly and served pleasant beer, cider and food. It’s a great location to visit Somerset, Dorset, the Jurassic Coast and local villages and sights. Virginia’s admin was on the ball throughout our booking and stay, and we have no hesitation in recommending Bridge Cottage for a terrific staycation.

A cosy comfortable cottage with great facilities, ideal for exploring the surrounding area. The garden, summerhouse and glass porch were great additions for relaxing or having fun with a game of pool or table football.

As the first person to stay post ‘lockdown ‘ I have to say Virginia had thought of everything. There was plenty of soaps, hand gel and antibacterial cleaners on hand. The linen was wrapped in polythene ready for use and the whole property was spotless. I can thoroughly recommend it. Thank you Virginia!

Lovely cottage in beautiful village. Close to amenities but far enough away to feel ‘out of the rat race’. Fully equipped, many little extras not found in all holiday rentals. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • Half Moon Inn and the Mildmay Arms, both serving food are within a 5 mile radius.
  • Larger Supermarkets, chain stores, banks, restaurants and much more can be found in Yeovil or  Sherborne, just 5 miles away.
  • A bus service goes through Marston Magna from Yeovil to Shepton Mallet.
  • There is a main line Station in Yeovil and Sherborne.
  • There is an Airport at Exeter.
